Oct. 9th Race Report

Code KatsillasTeam Jesus Racing was at Ocotillo Raceway and ACP this past weekend. We started Sunday off with a Chapel Service at Ocotillo. We had an awesome turnout for the service, so that was really nice. Thanks to everyone that attended, let’s keep this momentum going and have even more this Sunday at Verde Valley.

At Ocotillo Raceway, Carter Griffin is on a Ricky Carmichael like win streak. Once again, Carter took first place overall in the 50cc age 7-8 and the 50 open. Way to go Carter! A new Team Jesus member, Cullen Nunes, had a “bitter sweet day” as his dad put it. Cullen had nothing but bad luck with his 50cc races, but came away with a perfect 1-1 moto finishes to win the 60 Beginner class. Way to go Cullen! Josh Zimbal won his class in the 25+ class. Josh rode well, but may need to work on his starts, as he stalled it off the line in the second moto. We had Dustin Ostrander and Trevor Gatewood in the 125 Beginner class, and there was some great racing between the two. Dustin rode great, pulling the hole-shot the second moto and finishing 3rd overall, and Trevor rode well, finishing 4th overall on the day. We also had another Trever join the team; Trever Ostrander, Dustin’s brother. As for me in the 250 Pro class, I (Ryan Mortensen) finished last. I tried to do the first moto but was feeling too sick. I either had some really bad food poisoning or the flu. So the wife and I had to pack up and head home early. Maybe I had what Bubba had… who knows???

Brandon BrittsAt ACP for the second round of the CMC Cactus State series, Team Jesus Racing had a couple racers competing Sunday, Cody Katsillas and Brandon Britts. Cody put in 4 good motos and finished 4th overall in the 125 Junior class, and 3rd in the School Boy. Brandon rode smooth in the 125 Beginner class and finished 2nd overall. Way to go guys!

Carter GriffinThis Wednesday don’t forget to go out to ACP. “ACP will have practice this Wednesday night, Oct. 12th, Bikes Only, 6pm to 10pm. There will be free MX Riding Tips sponsored by Team Jesus Racing with guest instructor, Ryan Mortensen.”

Team Jesus Racing’s next chapel service will be October 16th at Verde Valley Motoplex. Gates open at 6:30am, Chapel Service at 7:20am, this should give you plenty of time to enjoy the service before practice at 8am.

Team Jesus would like to thank God for this opportunity to spread His word and love in the motocross community.
