Oct 16th, Race Report

Bobby WorthTeam Jesus Racing was at Verde Valley Motoplex in Cottonwood, AZ this past weekend. We started Sunday off with a Chapel Service. We had a respectable turnout for the service, so that was a great way to start the day. Thanks to everyone that attended. The next service will be November 6th at Arizona Cycle Park for the final race of the CMC Cactus State series. We are also planning to do a BBQ on November 5th at ACP, so stay tuned for more info.

It was an awesome day for racing at Verde, the track was perfect and the clouds gave us shade all day. Team Jesus rider, Bobby Worth, made his big bike debut. Bobby raced his dad’s YZ450F in the Big Bike Open class, where he “held his own” and placed 5th overall. Bobby also race the 250 Novice class, where he went 3-1 for 2nd overall. Wow! Already a moto win on the big bikes. Great job Bobby. He is looking forward to getting his new YZ250F this week.

Ryan MortensenSpeaking of new YZ250Fs, Mark Gatewood raced his brand new bike this weekend against his brother Trevor in the 125 Beginner class. Mark looked tired after 3 months off the bike. Trevor on the other hand had a good race and went 6-6 for his moto finishes. There should be some good racing between these 2 brothers, once Mark gets use to his new bike.

In the 50cc class we had Carter Griffin. It looks like Carter’s win streak finally came to an end, as he finished 2nd overall in the 50 Open, but he still won the overall in the 50 7-8. Way to go Carter.

Carter GriffinAs for me (Ryan Mortensen) in the 250 Pro class, I had a fun day. First moto, I rode a little tight but held a pretty good place to finish 4th. Second moto, I got a good start and was in second for the first lap behind Erik Anderson, and holding off a hard charging Chris Blose in 3rd. After Blose passed me I was getting pressure from John King. We had a great battle exchanging position a few times. I made the final pass on him on the last lap and held on for 3rd. AND a 3rd overall on the day! Thank you God, for answering my prayers.

This Wednesday don’t forget to go out to ACP. “ACP will have practice this Wednesday night, Oct. 19th, Bikes Only, 6pm to 10pm. There will be free MX Riding Tips sponsored by Team Jesus Racing with guest instructor, Ryan Mortensen.” Also, Ryan Clark and Justin Buckelew are suppose to be there to help in the riding class, but I have not heard an update, to see if they will make it for sure.

Team Jesus Racing’s next chapel service will be November 6th at ACP. Times will be posted later.

Team Jesus would like to thank God for this opportunity to spread His word and love in the motocross community.
