Team Jesus Grows At VERDE

Team Jesus Racing held its second pre-race chapel service at Verde Valley this past Sunday at the AMX State Championship race. Kirk did a great job deliving the message. We would like to thank everyone that attended the service and we look forward to seeing you at the next service at Speedworld, September 17th.

Two very fast racers joined Team Jesus Racing this weekend. First there is Carter Griffin #114, who is leading the points in the 50cc 7-8 and Open for the State Championship series. After Carter and his family enjoyed the Sunday morning chapel service, he went on to finish 1st place in both motos in the 50cc 7-8, and also took 1st place both motos in the 50cc open. Way to go Carter!!!

Our other new team member is Bobby Worth #2 on a KTM. Bobby has a lot of talent and is always up front in his class. We are excited to have Bobby on the team.

As for our other team members that raced Verde was: Trevor Gatewood, Kirk Goings, and me, Ryan Mortensen. Trevor did great going 7-5 in his motos for 5th overall. Kirk raced the 25+ and the 30+ Beg. He was the only guy in the 25+ so he was able to hold on for the overall win for the day. In the 30+, Kirk got a great start but was landed on over a double, and broke his clutch lever and finished 4th overall.

Team Jesus rider Kirk Goings had a rough night, breaking two clutch levers. In the 250 Pro class, I had some tough competition. There were 7 250 Pros on Sunday. First moto, I got a decent start and was 3rd for few laps until Chris Blose, who must have fallen on the first lap, blew by me like I was sitting still. Blose took the win with, Erik Anderson 2nd, Tyler Johnson 3rd, and I was in 4th. Second moto, I got off to a good start again. I was in 2nd behind Anderson the first lap until Chris passed me. I was able to run 3rd for most of the moto with a lot of pressure from Tyler. Then with only a couple laps to go Tyler passed me in the whoops. I thought I had 4th in the bag until I almost endoed off a jump and went of the track, letting John King take 4th and me finishing 5th. I definitely need to hit the gym!

Overall it was a great day of racing for the team.

Way to go TEAM JESUS RACING!

Team Jesus Racing would like to thank God for riding with us this weekend and bringing everyone home safe.
